Ok so... I read Twilight...

Aaaaand... I don't know what all the polemic is about >.>

It's an interesting book to read, written very cleverly at times (I usually hate 1st person) with likable characters (even though they lack depth for the most part) and an interesting (if slightly cliche) plot.

I would understand why some people would go crazy about it, namely teenage girls, cuz it's the story in which the awkward girl (which most of us have felt like at some point) gets the guy of her dreams (which ALL of us have wished for I'm sure). And if they wanna go rabid-fangirl on Edward, they're more than welcome as annoying as it can be lol. I certainly don't share all those sentiments but it's still a fun read.

What I don't get is people who bash the book so horribly. It's not the worst book written in history... it's actually pretty good for its purposes of entertainment. Sure, its characters could use a little fleshing out and a bit more flaws (which the author might have done in the sequels that I haven't read) and certain parts are a bit too sappy and drawn out for my taste (like the ending with the prom thing) and others try to cram too much into your head like character backgrounds and stuff, but I don't think Edward is emo or an abuser (definitely weird and antisocial), or Bella is a stuck-up idiot or the whole thing is misogynistic.

There are just so many things people throw at the book that I don't think are deserved and it gets on my nerves. I admit I read it because of the negative commentary more than the positive, because I wanted to see if I could flame on it too, which is fun if justified... but I didn't find it quite so horrible. So yeah, it may not be OMG THE BEST BOOK IN THE HISTORY OF BEST BOOKS but who cares? And, news flash people, its target audience IS teenage girls so don't bash it because of that >.>
